That's handy if you have to change out the body - you have to desolder the ESC boards to the motors to remove them.

The battery compartment is not a solid 'box', the sides, top, and bottom are all open - it's more like a battery cage. I had an obstruction in the battery cage, which ended up being the rear led wiring that ended up in the cage somewhere. I just pushed it out of the way and tried to 'seat'...
