Maybe the new firmware recognizes and provides more alerts to compass anomalies vs. ignoring it. Check the log files for errors after a flight to see if they coincide with the alerts you've been getting on the ST16. It should log any errors involving the compass.

If flyways are caused by bad GPS signals then Yuneec should route the GPS on/off feature to the AUX button.

I would keep my eye on Parrot. Parrot Bebop 2 is pretty good except for the camera performance and radio connectivity. The automation features are great. I hope Parrot buckles down for version 3 and addresses issues with Bebop 2.

I wonder if this tech will ever get to the point of rock solid performance: meaning the only crashes are pilot neglect.

I didn't upgrade the firmware to the latest edition. I was disappointed after watching a Youtube video and finding out that the cross hairs were removed. It's nice when you are trying to ensure that you are flying in a straight line towards a location. I wish there were customizable options...

I bought the googles and like them so far. Only issue is that the flight telemetry is at the left edge of the screen. I wish there was a way to place the ST16 in FPV mode to rearrange critical flight information. I have to strain my eyes to see the left most edge of the screen to read...

I have DBS. It just looks more secure when mounted. I bought it after watching an 8000 and 9000 foot run. As far as directional goes, I'm always pointed in the direction my drone flies anyway. If I need omni directional then I'll just put the stock antennas on.
