I was not able to get in either. However, I was able to connect to 192.168.42.1, which is my cameras IP address. It has a small web server, and you can see your pictures and movies. Not able to access settings or anything else.

There is no difference between rubber coated vs non. All the electronics are the same. Guessing the switches are different due to supply and demand.

To make Play store work, you have to root the ST16. Someone has directions on Youtube. Hopefully the root police won't find me.

I had to open my ST16, one of the anchor studs was loose. You need torx drivers to access. You also have to remove the rubber hand grips, there are 4 additional screws hiding. There is also a small torx screw top middle. Rubber bumpers are held in by double sided tape and 3 grommets.

If you plug the ST16 in while it is open to the pad, android, it will give you a charge percentage, and you have a choice for speed or trickle charge.
