    New B4UFLY FAA App

This airport is Rogers Field O05 (oh zero five). It is not abandoned or a grass field. In the summer it can get 100 take offs and landings per day and it is a USFS air attack base. The old app told me to go 5 miles away to fly and I always did. I would love to fly right out of my backyard...

    New B4UFLY FAA App

My phone updated the B4UFLY App from the FAA. The old version always alerted me to contact the airport about a half mile away before flying. There is also a USFS heliport there. The new app says "Good to go! No advisories, but stay alert" It is class G airspace but the planes go over pretty low...

    Drone Intrusion

I agree. I'm not even sure what this person saw was a drone. Planes land a speed that is faster than most prosumer drones can fly.

    Drone Intrusion

In my local newspaper, this appeared in the "Sheriff's Blotter". "At the Chester airport, a caller reported a drone intrusion. A deputy reported that a man witnessed a red and black drone without lights flying parallel to an aircraft that was landing. He said he didn't see the drone operator...

    pre flight checklist

I use this. I found the basics on a post several months back and have fine tuned it for my particular situation. For instance, the section that says Charge Radio is because I carry an ICOM aircraft radio to my flights to monitor aircraft in the area. You may not need that. I only have three...

    Would you fly?

I was wondering how everybody determines the wind speed when on location. I bought one of those anemometer things on Amazon thinking it would give me an instant wind velocity reading. Wrong. I end up documenting a wind speed from UAV Forecast or weather.com. The winds here tend to not be steady...

    Would you fly?

UAV Forecast allows you to set max-min thresholds for all conditions, so as you learn what you are comfortable with, you can adjust accordingly.

    Would you fly?

I arrived about thirty minutes before the realtor. Currently there is no occupants so I had time to find take off and landing areas and to plan some shots. I'm pretty familiar with the general area and I'm thinking a mid morning or sunset flight.

    Would you fly?

I met with the real estate agent. The winds ended up only being about 20mph. I told them I would fly and it was up to them. They chose to postpone the flight because of the blowing foliage and the rough water. The home is listed for 1.7 million and they want the lake to be flat like glass. There...
