I live in Michigan, not far from lake Huron. The Saint Clare river runs along the USA and Canadian border. I have lately gone there to film the freighters as they pass by. According to the USA Coast Guard, I can not overfly the ships with out permission from the captain's. This makes sense to me. I can fly along side as long as I do not cause the ship to alter course in any way. Problem comes from the fact that somewhere near the center of the channel is the boarder line. I am having trouble getting the official take from the Canadian authorities.
It would be so easy to fly into Canadian airspace and not know it.
What do you know about Canada's take?

Nobody is tracking these by radar and I cant imagine the CBS (Canadian Border Services) worrying about it too much as long as your not interfering with airspace restrictions (Aircraft) and marine transport.

Now attach something to the drone and I am willing to bet that would change everything.

Just my .02 cents.

Regards,

Mike

I am looking into getting a handheld marine radio so I let them know what I am up to. Just not wanting to start an incident.
