ST 16 Shade/Hood installation

I think I might be missing something but I cannot install the Shade without it falling off. I unfold the shade and align the pins with the interior of the neck-strap hooks but it seems to be loose and falls off. Have not seen any posts so I assume I am doing it wrong?

There are holes below the lanyard holes... the hood goes in them.

It's a loose fit. I only use it when absolutely necessary. It's pretty frustrating.

I made my own folding hood. You don't need to take it off to store the controller in the case. Also it blocks light better than the original one. You can see photos and description in this thread:
