typhoon h gps modual hidden surpise

after looking up images of the typhoon craft gps unit I found a surprise that may be few folks knew of called the on board coin battery. yes that gps had it own little coin battery. that tell me it going to be another part that I have to keep spare or 2 of. I do agree the gps on the craft a bit wimpy. I trying to find a out if the unit can be modded for a external gps antenna. also I looking to mod the st 16+ also with external gps port. for my desired usage the st +16 mod more critical

I am not aware of any internal batteries on the H. Do you have a link that shows it?

the coin battery located lower left center magnify and you see the x on the coin toward the wires

I think the battery is used to keep sat data for quicker start times. It's a standard battery and in that sort of use will probably last longer than the rest of the drone.

Otherwise, the GPS unit itself seems to be pretty good, I'm not sure why you'd want to replace it.
