Why won't Yuneec Produce a Comprehensive User's Manual?

Outside of legality, the "common good" becomes open to interpretation. If none of the information is validated or certified to be accurate and no formal process is followed, it simply serves the purpose to interested parties that want to consolidate - hopefully accurate - information to a place...

Why won't Yuneec Produce a Comprehensive User's Manual?

I wouldn't say a company makes no money in documenting their product, it can - in the long run - increase margins for profitability when documentation is sufficient and correlated to reducing tech, service and warranty calls. The FTC, in the US, is the 'Watch Dog Agency' that controls the...

    Emergency Unpowered Descent

Agreed - I definitely appreciate the feature. It seems equally as absent in my Autel which had no problems continuing to operate at what felt like full throttle even though it had tipped and completely turned upside down after bouncing on a hard landing.

    Emergency Unpowered Descent

Does anyone know if it's easy to change this parameter with the Yuneec system? Or even if there's a way to disable the failsafe that cuts the motors if the device turns beyond the 90 degrees?

    Red Props For The H

I had painted the original OEM props yellow (actually, right after I realized the red ones weren't effective) with regular spray paint. Without even thinking I ran into the exact issue @samsflite mentioned. Even at startup in idle it sounded horrible and I realized it was from the weighting of...

    Red Props For The H

I have! They do not! That is, they accomplished two things for me - 1) at least on the ground I could absolutely tell when the props were spinning and at idle they create a groovy visual distortion effect if you look down toward them. 2) they make the craft look FAR more intimidating when...

    Emergency Unpowered Descent

Hey @Paranull - I did find that as well; I was astonished that he did it at such a low altitude; but appreciate that he did it under far better control than the other video I posted of the DJI drone falling from several thousand feat up in the air (both due to a CSC then later to a power...

    Emergency Unpowered Descent

Hey @Ralphy - The parachute makes for a great idea. The first time I even thought of the combo was when I was at Fry's Electronics and actually saw a drone system they were selling with built in 'parachute' rescue. The fact that it was well designed and built in was great and made total sense...

Why won't Yuneec Produce a Comprehensive User's Manual?

JizzyJiz - Sadly, this is incredibly common. One of my departments runs the soup-to-nuts process of documentation, enablement and manual creation for products - it is a huge effort when you have a mass-produced product. That isn't to say your point is not valid; there are many ways it could be...

    Emergency Unpowered Descent

Aha, just found this, @Mojoe35 - looks like non-GPS mode allowed this guy to get up to 60mph. I can't seem to find any videos on comparing ascent/descent though - but amazing to see you can get up to nearly 60...

    Emergency Unpowered Descent

Ah - I didn't know turning off GPS changed the allowances for ascent/descent?

    Emergency Unpowered Descent

Given that the Yuneec's ST-16 controller gives you so much access to the controls, do you know if one would be able change either the rate of descent or amount of power sent to the props when holding the left stick all the way down? Or is this particular function hard-coded/locked out?

    Emergency Unpowered Descent

This was my experience as well. My Autel doesn't shut off and is similar to this:

    Emergency Unpowered Descent

This is exactly what I'm wondering. I know the unit goes into a "find-me" alarm mode when it's turned upside down during flight, so assuming that the craft stays right side up, my curiosity would be on the physics side of whether recovery is possible. I've seen multiple fall videos of DJI, and...
