Taking flight all on its own

pjlavell, when you go test it in that open field, I suggest you tie a long light but strong rope to it so it can fly around but will be tethered if it decides to take off.

    H plus NFZ

That is correct. I jsut measured it and the rotors are 480 mm apart. So, I guess I have the 480. (LOL, now I understand what people are talking about when they mention just the "480" or "520".) Thank you all for the clarification.

    H plus NFZ

Oh, OK. I haven't been paying attention and ignoring the difference between the H and H Plus. How do you tell the difference looking at the drone itself?

    H plus NFZ

Yuneec makes a GUI download available but you have to fill out a form to hold them harmless, taking all responsibility for your drone operation. Go to the Yuneec site, see below. I downloaded it and followed the instructions. I can now connect my Typhoon to my computer, open the GUI and...

Why don't my Typhoon motors arm?

Thanks Jeff. That certainly would explain the behavior. And, yes, this helps :)

Why don't my Typhoon motors arm?

Thanks for the reply. Bummer, I didn't think to try that. Mostly because I remember turning off the GPS didn't let me arm the motors previously. But, that was in a no-fly zone before I had the upgrade allowing me to override that. Although I wonder how it knew it was in a no-fly zone without...

Why don't my Typhoon motors arm?

Can you please tell me more about IPS? Don't know if I have it on mine.

Why don't my Typhoon motors arm?

The test was the flight outside the gorge that I mentioned. That's why I thought I was good to go, being only about 1000 ft away, but as FlushVision pointed out, the proximity of the gorge walls was the problem.

Why don't my Typhoon motors arm?

Thank you for the great reply. It makes a lot of sense. I WAS under the impression that the H would fly with just 6 satellites. This IS a real bummer as I wanted to get some great aerial video of a waterfall in that gorge. Was tempted to fly FPV from outside the gorge, where I first tested...

Why don't my Typhoon motors arm?

I have No-Fly Zone enabled (allowing me to fly in the No-Fly Zones). I tested it and it flew just fine. Then I moved it about 1,000 ft or so and tried to fly it again, yet the motors would not arm even though I had 8 or more satellites. Any ideas or suggestions? The new location was in a...

Getting rid of the No-fly zones

Correct. Sometimes the No-Fly buttons don't show and then I jut uplug the H and plug it back into the computer's USB port.

A CALL TO ARMS!! Speak Out NOW on Drone Regulations!!

I appreciate your effort and hard work in drafting the letter, but I must admit it's a bit in-your-face and provocative. Politicians won't react favorably to this kind of message. A bit of diplomacy is needed, I think. :)

Getting rid of the No-fly zones

I wonder if it has to do with firmware update. I have the H; it's about 1 year old now and have not done any firmware upgrades. I recently downloaded the GUI update and when I plug in the H, there is indeed a pair of buttons in the Settings tab to Enable and Disable the No-fly Zone and they...

    FAA Registration

Thank you Dustoff. I thought so. I guess having two registrations, one for TH and one for the Hubsan, won't do any harm. But not having to re-register made it easier since I can't make out the serial number on the replacement Hubsan due to the label being smudged.

    LiPo battery care

This is a great visualization of the discharge process. For the Typhoon, I suppose you can mentally change the time scale by dividing it in half, more or less. I am wondering why the curve has the little blips or up-ticks every minute or so?
