What is this in the air, I photographed?

Three men in black said 'Don't Report This!' (Blue Oyster Cult - ETI) Actually, as much as I really love a good conspiracy theory, I'm on the helium party balloon bandwagon. Mylar can be seen at some amazing distances.

Danger of Lipos and the crappy supplied charger

For what it's worth, I've been using lithium batteries for about fifteen years in RC devices. I've never had a fire or explosion of any kind despite many, many cycles of use. Yes they can do some really bad things but they are not overly prone to do so. I think unbiased research would find...

Starting flights at 5000ft ground level efficiency

Yeah I hear that. I'm in Brighton, CO. We also have the high plains winds here. I've always flown in this environment so I don't guess that I would know what kind of performance one gets at or near sea level. I was in Alamogordo about ten days ago. The wind and dust reminded me of why we...

    Overcast and/or night flight??

The FAA does not smile on flying at night. I think overcast would be OK as long as you can maintain a LOS to the aircraft.

    New Owner of Typhoon H

Hi Rick; I found the vast array of controls on the ST-16 a little intimidating. An entrepreneur out of Estes Park, CO operates a company called 'Signs of Life'. Among his many products is a set of function labels for the Typhoon H and ST-16. I bought and installed a set. Definitely helps...

    Wind Map and Weather Forecast

Awesome website! Another tool for flying model weather junkies. Thanks a lot AH-1G. Jim

    Be aware !!! Very aware!!!

Bonesamy, I am really sorry to hear that. I threw a rotor on a quad about six years ago, and I definitely changed my attitude on rotors at that point. I only buy the Yuneec brand rotors for my H. Yes they are kind of pricey, but compared to the level of disaster that could occur when they...

Searching for the camera circuit board as a spare part

Hey CraigCam; I love the 'Frankenstein' paint job on the Typhoon H! You'll always know which one is yours. Jim

    Snow in the Smokies

Nicely Done. Good choice of picture composition. Is that 'DollyWood' with the Ferris Wheel? Jim

    Attention on landing the H

Yeah that's me Golf Cobra. I can stomp a landing pad in the snow, that doesn't mean the aircraft will like it. The funny part is it always seems plenty big enough to take off, somehow it got smaller when it was time to land. Jim

    Attention on landing the H

Make sure sonar and collision avoidance are 'off' prior to landing. They treat the ground as an obstacle to be avoided. I have discovered that you can force an H down with sonar on, but as soon as you let the 'throttle' stick center, you will be ascending. Jim

    Another thought.......

Hi Ron; A few years ago I was having a similar experience with a much less sophisticated aircraft, a Y3 multi. It range tested fine, everything seemed to work until we got in the air and then it just started 'Doing it's own thing'. I got real close to losing the aircraft when it happened the...

    This made me laugh

Great explanation Steve. DJI seems to stay a little too attached to their products. I've seen a post or two on this site where pilots were talking about their inability to use a DJI product on a job because it was due for an update. It kind of makes one wonder about who really owns that...

    This made me laugh

Hi Folks; It's what happens to all of that stored telemetry that concerns me. Maybe I'm kidding myself, but I feel a lot better with my aircraft talking to the factory, rarely if ever. Jim
