Do I need to up grade firmware to fly at 6716 feet in howard colorado ? And if I do how is it done ? Thanks

If you mean that ground level is 6176 feet above sea level, then you wouldn't have a problem. There is an 8000 ft ceiling with the stock firmware. You can request firmware to allow you to fly over 8000 feet if needed. If you mean fly out 6176 from the controller, then, sorry no. The Q500 will not do this.

As your takeoff point increases over 7000' you should fly more slowly and avoid wind. The slower prop speed on the Q doesn't provide much lift at that altitude. If you try to fly too fast the Q will lose altitude. Test it until you get a feel for how it reacts.
