Breeze distance indicator on a tablet.

I noticed that if I walk towards the hoovering breeze the distance readout on the Mini I pad doesn't change. Is this because the tablet doesn't have GPS?

AFAIK the distance and altitude readings one can see in the app refer to distances relative to the takeoff position.
