If you are at the same deviation from magnetic north as the factory in China, you can fly right out of the box. Otherwise, calibrate it right after fully reading the manual, after reading the pinned informative threads for the Q500.
A major help: learn to fly it with the camera still in the box. Once you get some flying in and learn to land softly, then add the camera and start taking pics and videos.
