CG03 camera

Ok. During the binding process I get an error message that says the camera firmware is too old.

How do I update the firmware on the camera?

The bind should have completed, even with old firmware. If the bind completed, what camera firmware version is showing on the firmware screen of your controller?

? I thought it was a CG03?

But that’s alright it’s working. Well at least the video.

I have a loose connector, where would this go?

This is sounding like a mess. The picture is of a CG03, which is also not the correct camera for the Typhoon H. The loose connector just needs to be unplugged and stored away somewhere in case you sell the camera. It has no use on a Typhoon H. The Typhoon H uses the contacts on the mount plate, which does the same thing.
I didn't know it was even possible to load CGo2 firmware on a CGo3 camera, but that appears to be what someone has done. And it is the EU version of the firmware at that.
I am not certain what would happen if you tried to load the correct firmware. It might work OK. But it still will not get rid of the error message.
You mentioned "Well at least the video.". What is the camera not doing or doing that is not correct.

You won't have any gimbal control except pitch on the CGo3 even with the correct firmware. The CG02 firmware may be the reason for no pitch, but there are also lots of other reasons for no pitch.
The CGo3 4K camera settings may also not work with the CGo2 firmware. I just don't know.
Let us know if you decide to restore the camera to correct CGo3 firmware.

There is a peculiarity related to CGo3 firmware. There were two versions of the CGo3 camera board during the production period of the CG03. The earlier board version can use older firmware versions up to Version cgo3gb_2.4.00_A_firmware.bin, but no firmware versions newer. The later board version can use cgo3gb_2.4.00_A_firmware.bin and all firmware versions newer, but no firmware versions older. The latest version of CG03 firmware is likely too new to work on your camera. The link below is to the version that will work on all CGo3 cameras.

1.) Download the file.
2.) Rename the file to "firmware.bin" (without the quote marks)
3.) Copy "firmware.bin" to a freshly formatted SD card. (FAT32 format is recommended, but other formats often work)
4.) Put the SD card in the camera.
5.) Power up the drone.
Wait while the front camera LED flashes some odd colors and/or patterns. After a minute or so, the LED will go dark.
6.) Wait one minute with camera dark.
7.) Turn off the drone/camera.
8.) Restart the drone/camera and verify the LED on front of the camera goes through the normal start-up sequence and starts to flash green.
9.) Allow the camera to flash green for 5 full minutes.
10.) Shut down the camera, remove the SD card, and start the system up to verify the new firmware version is 2.4.00 (A).

I’m running into a little problem. I’m following the instructions (thank you WTF!)

I think that the issue might be where the camera goes dark part. I’m not seeing that. It starts up and there’s a blinking red led, then it starts blinking green.

I’ve followed the instructions and still seem stuck at V 1.9.01 (E).

Also, does the camera led flash green, or is it supposed to be solid?

The only update I can offer at the moment is that there was also a version V1.9.01(e) for the CGo3. Bad coincidence, but at least we don't have to worry about some Frankenstein firmware issue.

I don't have the install file for V1.9.01 for CGo3. I have the versions prior and later, but not that one. If anyone has a copy of the file, it would be good to upload it.

I found an old post that implies I once successfully updated from an installed V1.9.01 to the version you just tried. So it is not likely a firmware incompatibility issue. Your implication the camera LED flashed solid green at the end of the attempted update suggests your camera is able to read the card, but I would try again using a different SD card anyway.
I would also try installing file without renaming it.

It will be much later this evening before I can try anything else. All I can really do is downgrade a camera to V1.8.01 and then observe the results when trying to upgrade from there.

"Also, does the camera led flash green, or is it supposed to be solid?"
It did that because it did not initiate the update cycle. The normal response for the LED with an SD card installed is solid green. Had the update initiated, the LED would have been flashing green.

Got it! 👍😁
I was able to load the new firmware. I’m just not sure what made the difference. I did keep the file name and it loaded.

Another thing I noticed after is that when I was formatting with a certain SD card it only had exFat32 and NTSF available. When I used a different SD card I got the fat32.

Thanks again WTF, Steve and the Forum!!
A great place for real help!! 🙏🫡
