After much research I decided on. Y first drone the Typhoon Q500 4q I made sure firmware was up to date. Calibrated controller and updated firmware on copter. When I finally was ready to fly. The drone is all over the place. It won't hold a steady hover. I tried to calibrate the compass but was unsuccessful. Not sure what I should do next. Any help greatly appreciated. Thank you

make sure it's not in smart mode, put in angel mode. It's the far top right toggle switch on the st16

The startup procedure is critical. Set the Q on level ground away from any concrete, underground pipes or wires, metal buildings or anything metal. Reach under the belly to turn it on and don't touch it until it is fully booted up. Then do the accelerometer calibration using the menu on the ST10. When you take off go max throttle until you are up 10-15' high.

To do the compass calibration it's best to remove the camera and props. Search Youtube for Typhoon Q500 compass. There are lots of videos that will explain.
