hi, so after some debate and reading I took the plunge and modded my plus. hardware is all straightforward but as I suspected the firmware is the key issue. currently I'm going to have to use the c23 this is responding to commands but no visual, I can detect a wifi signal. More importantly i cannot connect to the drone the st16s has the later H520 software but shows no signal nor my phone. i have swapped to my h plus wifi board but still nothing. so my take is that this issue is the datapilot/ update software, can anyone help on this please?

"I took the plunge and modded my plus."
What did you do to convert from HPlus to H520?

"i have swapped to my h plus wifi board but still nothing."
What do you mean by "h plus wifi board"? The ST16s WiFi Board? The controller SR24? The drone SR24? Something else?

"....but no visual"
The C23 video will not connect to the H520 in the normal fashion. You have to manually connect in the Pad/Settings/WifI section. Is that what you did?

"the c23 this is responding to commands..."
"i cannot connect to the drone the st16s"

These two statements seem to be in conflict.
To what commands is the C23 responding? I don't believe the C23 gimbal will respond to Yaw or Pitch commands unless the ST16S is bound (connected?) to the drone. Please clarify what the two statements mean.

" has the later H520 software"
Do you have the full H520 firmware, or did you only load the H520 App onto an HPlus ST16S?

sorry for the vague post I hopefully can do a better job this time. So yes I have swapped my h plus mainboard and fitted an h520 board. This is after reading a previous post of someone doing the same thing.
The wifi board on the drone as I understand it. The board at the base of the picture.
The c23 was showing on the controller and it showed as wifi connected just no picture, It will roll and pitch and respond to the controller commands.
I did bind the controller to the drone and the lights went from yellow back to normal. Just whenever I I try the software updater it's not finding any drone to select.
Following the previous h plus conversion post in this forum there was a file updater app I believe that I installed to the st16 to change the hplus to the h520 software on th controller.
Hope this helps

Thanks. That does help a lot.
Also, @Steve Carr recently sent me an H520 that can be used to research your issue. So here goes:

Generally, the behavior described seems to match the behavior of a C23 mounted on an H520 when the drone was bound using the "Bind without camera Option", but the video was NOT manually bound using the PAD/Settings/WiFi menu.
If that is the case, bind the camera video using the PAD/Settings/WiFi menu.
If that is not the case, then more clarification is needed:

"The wifi board on the drone as I understand it."
I hear that one called the "drone receiver" or "drone SR24" most often. If it was working on the original HPlus board, it's probably still good.

"The c23 was showing on the controller and it showed as wifi connected just no picture"
What screen(s) are showing the C23 and the WiFi connection?
If this is the original C23 and the original ST16S, then all the hardware associated with the video picture is still the same. The C23 can be bound and viewed on an original or properly converted H520 ST16S when bound manually through the WiFi menu. That suggests the issue may be an incomplete firmware conversion to H520 or a difference in how you are binding.
Are you binding the C23 manually via the WIFI settings in PAD/Settings?

"I did bind the controller to the drone and the lights went from yellow back to normal."
There is more than one way to bind the H520. I don't think the normal way will work with the C23 camera (did not spend a lot of time trying).
Did you use the "Manual Bind/Manually bind RC to vehicle (fly without camera)" option?

"whenever I I try the software updater it's not finding any drone to select"
You can't use the C23 to do a normal update to the Drone/Camera. And there are no instructions currently developed for doing a manual SD card update for a system that is using a C23 mounted on an H520. Writing the instructions would take a while. Please try first to get video by using the Pad/Settings/WiFi option.
If that does not work, let me know and I will try to develop some instructions that will work for your current setup.

Hello again so a few more tests achieved. Firstly the bound without camera option, I have tried fitted and removed no difference to the camera drone.
I took The controller back to flightpath 2.0 firmware the drone is recognised the sr24 board is listed in the wifi bind as well as the camera. the sats and battery status are in the top of the main screen. The camera wouldn't move but i expected that., but the video does work
In the h52o controller configuration the camera wifi is showing up in the Android settings wifi screen, no drone though.
My first though of call is the st16s firmware. I'm unsure what version I should try first to see if I can correct.

The drone is not supposed to show up in the settings/wifi menu. Only the camera video signal.
You bind the drone in the "Bind without camera" section as you have done before. That gives you control of the drone and control of the C23 gimbal.
Then you bind the C23 camera in the Wi-Fi settings as in the document below to get the C23 video.

We are at an impasse until you tell us if you tried the manual bind in the Wi-Fi settings for the C23 video. The guidance below is how the manual bind is performed if you have not tried it. I know of no other method to bind a C23 to an H520 ST16S. Once you have confirmed the manual bind does not work, we can move on. Or celebrate if the manual bind works.

I have made the conversion of a Typhoon H Plus to a Typhoon H520. As a matter of fact, your photo showing the H520 mainboard with the connectors labeled is my photo of that conversion in 2021. If the H520 firmware is the latest version, the C23 and E90 cameras are interchangeable. If you haven't loaded the firmware for the H520, you won't be able to advance. There are several additional things about the board conversion: is there an SD card installed on the H520 mainboard? Are you sure that the camera connector is properly attached? When you activate the H520, what are the sequence of sounds and lights that indicate that the H520 mainboard has correctly initialized? Take a look at this post: H-Plus to H520 Conversion

I have done the first steps of this it shows the c23 and I have connected to it. I noticed it kept showing the signal as disconnecting and reconnecting. Hence my thoughts on making sure I had the right version of datapilot on the st16s

Since the system works when setup for HPlus, I would tend to agree this is a firmware conflict of some type. I would approach it in stages:
1.) Open settings/Wi-Fi. Review all entries and "forget" your home Wi-Fi and any thing else that is connected. Then restart the ST16S and try rebinding the C23.

2.) If "forgetting" everything did not work, try a full factory reset, change the security setting to allow "unknown sources", re-install the Flight Mode APK, connect temporarily to home Wi-Fi, set the time and date, forget the Home Wi-Fi again, and again try to bind the C23.

3.) If factory reset also does not help, it gets a little more complicated. I sent a PM to suggest a full, clean conversion to H520 using an SD card.

Well I think I'm finally getting somewhere, thanks to you. Well as you can see after reinstalling of the reset file from the wtf drone page. A bit of fiddling and disabling the home wifi. Bingo I was able to connect the camera. I can't see to bind the drone in the update software-settings-edit tab. However it's clearly connected and when the fly button was cycled it powered up briefly then went to alarm for no props. Next test is to get back together and charge a battery fully.

The Manual Bind without a camera is not done in the update software-settings-edit tab. The attached file describes the manual bind of the H520 without a camera.
