i live in the mountains and would really like to change my max altitude . ive seen other discussions but none discuss the st10 . can someone give a new guy some help ?

Not sure if you mean the max AGL or MSL. The max MSL is 8000' and that can only be changed by getting a special firmware from Yuneec.
The max AGL is 400' and that can be changed by connecting the Q500 to your pc and running the GUI. You can download the GUI from Yuneec.
