I find cemeteries very interesting. This particular one is where my wife's grandparents and great grandparents are buried and is still an active cemetery. The grave markers with just a small brick are those of poor folks who couldn't afford anything more. I thought they might be slaves but my wife said this community was so poor that no one owned slaves. Some headstones are of civil war soldiers. Some are babies who died at childbirth. There are groups of graves with the deceased date's within days of each other who dies of influenza. Most of the older stones indicate that people died of earlier ages than they do now.
