Pushing the red button doesn't stop the props from the first time

My ST16 controller started to have an issue. When i press and keep pressing the red button, the propellers don't stop spinning. I start playing with different buttons and hit the red button and then the props stop. It used to work consistently before but now it feels the button doesn't properly anymore.
It's annoying because sometimes the H starts to tip over and I have to fly it, land it again and try to stop the props.

Any ideas what might be wrong?

If you have played with your channel-setting, Reset your ST16

If not, look here

Go into the not so secret, secret menu and calibrate the ST-16.

First open Hardware Monitor and check the switch several times to see if it works consistently. If not, the do the calibration as wedbster has posted. Then check it again in Hardware Monitor. If it still isn't working properly it could be a bad switch.

I had a similar issue at one point and solved it by creating a new H model and going thru a complete rebind...
but I'd do the ST-16 calibration first, to see if that works.
