Q500 4K Drone motors changing speed by themselves?

Took out for a flight and drone would always fall forward, numerous times on prop start up. Never saw this before. Took to bench, removed props, drone and controller powered off. Initialized controller, then the drone. All lights and start up look/sound as expected.

Hit red start/stop button for props, motors start, within a second or two, speed changes. Goes back and forth between motors. Hooked drone up to GUI and all looks good. Rotations are good and they all sound good??

have you tried an Accelerator Calibration (in GUI or with ST10)? If not, give it a try.

Just did the AC as you suggested using GUI. Problem solved! Wonder what changed/caused this?

I'm not an expert in this area but I know it is not easy and simple sensor. Accelerator is a very sensitive part with a lot of high-sophisticated software filtering behind. Temperatur drift, vibrations or a hard hit may cause implausible values, software cannot cover/correct any more.
That's why this calibration was introduced to bring hardware and software back to work together.
