I have a Q500 4k that has been in storage for 6 years. I removed the batteries from the Q500 & ST10+ at that time. I thought it would be fun to wake this bird up from hibernation and fly it again. I have a new q500 battery on the way as the one in storage for 6yrs doesn't seem to charge . The st10 battery seems good...... What's the best approach and steps to take to succeed in flying this bird again after a 6 year nap?? Battery should be here this Friday. Thank you, Jim.

You will certainly want to do a compass cal. I would let it sit outside while powered on and make sure it collects good satellite counts on both the drone and controller. You should also check the stick function in Hardware Monitor to make certain they are smooth and responsive, If they appear sluggish they should be cleaned.

Hi Steve. As of now,I have calibrated the ST10+, all stick inputs passed as well as the other functions. Once the Q 500 battery arrives, I plan to run some tests through the GUI. If the tests look good, next step would be a long gps accusation session..like you stated ,10-15 mins. Next step after all mentioned, I most definitely will perform a compass calibration.

Things I don't know until Q500 battery arrives: 1) will re-binding be necessary from 6yrs of storage?
2) if the Q500 will even power up, it cant be good to sit for 6yrs unused.
3) camera /gimbal overall performance after sitting unused.

I will soon find out!
Thanks for your knowledge sharing

If you working with GUI do accelerometer calibration too. It's easy.
Check geofence settings. Sometimes it lost settings when stored for a long time.
Check if you have a SD card in the ST10. It should be visible when you connect the ST10 to PC via USB cable.

My Q500 is older and works fine. The ST10 stick potis are much better than those in ST16.

Well, after 6 long years in hibernation, the Q500 is up and running, all system checks on the GUI look good. I'll wait and do my compass calibration outdoors in an open area. Also, the camera initiated with no problems, and the ST10+ / Q500 still get along with each other with a firm handshake. All looks well thus far. Winter storm warnings and high winds will keep me grounded for the next few days. Anything else I should consider before 1st flight? Thank you.

Not sure, maybe because I'm inside, but I have a live camera view on my st10+, but when testing the tilt down and tilt up slider bar on st10, I get a beep but camera doesn't move up or down, stays perfectly flat ,looking straight ahead.

Looks like I have camera connection perfectly, but no telemetry , can't start motors with red button, and no camera tilt control with slider. I'm guessing I might have to rebind the Q500, but not the camera? Any suggestions? Or should I just wait until I can try all this outdoors? Thank you

Easy things first.
Assuming your camera is a CGo3, slide the camera off, check to be sure the contacts on both drone and camera side of the mount are clean and none of the springs are stuck down on the drone side.

The image in this link is from a camera with more contacts, but a stuck mount contact looks the same on a CGo3.
Stuck Mount Contacts

If it does not help, things get more complicated.

Okay, I slid camera off and cleaned contacts with alcohol put camera back on and then moved the drone to the living room and powered everything back on, now I have complete connection, and telemetry was visible on st10+, all functions worked, camera tilt slider, and pressing red button armed the motors. The room I was in before also had our home router and some antenna boosters, I suspect that was causing possible issues. In living room, everything connected just fine.
