Hello everyone, let me show you the install of the Spektrum Tricera RHCP antenna on the ST10+. This is a quick explanation.

As you can see in the following pic, this is the ST10+ with all screws and back cover out.

The following pic is the stock 5.8ghz antenna after I removed it.

Then I drilled the hole (1/4" drill bit), inserted the U.fl IPX to SMA cable and tightened it using pliers.

Finally, I routed the cable underneath the 2.4ghz dual antenna module and you can see here where it comes out to be attached to the bottom pcb and screwed everything back in.

The following are the extra pieces you will not need after the install.

And the price breakdown:
1x Spektrum Tricera ($23)
1x ufl ro sma (8") = $5
TOTAL: $28.00

Here is a pic of the antenna already installed:

I also installed this antenna in the CGO3 but I did not take pictures when I was installing it. The following pic shows the final install in the Q500 4K.
Price was about the same with the exception of the Sma to Sma 5cm extension, which I should have bought the Rigid version instead of the flexible one. My bad there...

NOTES:
As you can see in the picture of the stock antenna, the ST10+ comes with a patch. Its not a circular polarized clover leaf antenna. And, the CGO3 camera comes with a Left Hand Circular Polarized (LHCP) clover leaf antenna underneath the lense. So, what I did was I installed both RHCP antennas and called it a day. It doesnt matter whether its right or left as long as both are the same.

I will update this post with real numbers as soon as I can get outside to fly this thing. It has been raining a lot in south florida lately.

Fly safe guys!

I installed the one in the camera first and tested it. I could get 1200ft at 200ft high with a lot of oak trees around. Without any mods, I got 400ft max at the same altitude and under the same weather conditions. I havent tested with both antennas on. I'll test it at the end of this week.

And I will test it in open field just to see how many feet flying around trees take away.

This antennas are the result of teamwork between Spektrum and VAS, which are two very well known companies for rc stuff.

Very nice job and thanks for posting the pics. Did you remove the camera antenna, or just disconnect it and plug in the external?
Thanks again.
Tom

Update: I can get 2000ft flying around trees at ~200ft high. I couldn't test it in open field.
