USA - Bad drone legislation in the US

Pier - You’re not thinking correctly- It’s not a problem right now because they were just released. Think of it this way, up to this point there was aerial filming which is primarily not a safety problem. Next’ there is drone racing which is generally confined to light-weight machines being flown in confined areas.
The DJI FPV opens a whole new era in drone flying because for the first time we have full size heavy drones traveling speeds of close to 100 mph with 90% of them flown on public property with "real people" in the area.

Forget the goofy “Spotter Theory” 80% of the guys who fly these new heavy-weight FPV's are flying by themselves. Also this whole spotter deal is flawed and for the most part worthless. What possibly could a spotter say or do to the pilot if he's flying towards a person at 80 mph. The answer is "Nothing!

Drone pilots also need to get up to speed on latency as well. When you’re flying at 80+ mph, by the time you see an obstacle in the goggles and prepare to turn, you already hit the object before you it appeared in the monitor.

Agree that the big problem is that most will not fly with a spotter (or even know they are supposed to, don't know what the instruction manual says). I did see a review that showed one of the features was the pause button, which nearly instantly stops the drone, appeared to work very well and very quickly-very short stopping distance. Of course you still have to react fast enough to avoid a problem, which will be a challenge at 80mph.
