Hello. I've been checking the battery voltage with the control panel, but would like to check it with a voltmeter. I am just guessing the side with only a horizontal contact is negative. On both (drained) batteries, one of the round holes measures 7 volts, the other 3 holes read nothing. But I don't even know what that means, since I thought they were all supposed to be equal and 3-something. Thank you for answering this newbie question.

You can check connections in this discussion : H battery terminal diagram
Positive is the horizontal terminal on right side near vertical contact.
Left horizontal and the 3 round spots are the negative of each cell.
You should measure around 3,5~3,7 V for each cell on a drained battery, and 4,2V for each cell on a fully charged battery.
To avoid damage, Lipo batteries should never be drained under 3,3V per cell.
