Breeze was working fine for days. Suddenly when I try to take off, the "Take Off" button switches to "Landing" and the drone plops back down. And I don't want it to.

I would suggest heading east from your location somewhere along the north shore of Long Island so you are away from the NFZ areas and see if your Breeze will fly there. You are right on the border of a 0 foot ceiling area for JFK and LaGuardia Airports as well as right next to Clearview Expressway.
Unfortunately much of NYC Metropolis is No Fly. You’ll probably have to get away from the city to fly.

Are any of the Status indicators on the top right red or grayed out? Does the IRS indicator turn blue after liftoff?
Try turning GPS off again and see if you can fly at the 12 foot level again.
Then see what you get when you re-enable GPS.
Use the arc.gis map from your other post and get to an area not covered by the squares and see if the Breeze is able to fly there.
