I finally got a day with temps just right to do a test flight of h520e. Glad they took their time on this one. results are much better than expected. new gimbal make the difference. no return to land errors at all. also with eom antennas flew further from ground station that first gen h520. the flight time with oem batteries over 28 min each. distances hit over 4000ft out with oem antennas. area that always triggered rtl did not trigger with this unit. I would like to see what 4 hawks antennas will do with this unit. 390ft above the ground. this unit had a surprise for me when taking off from launch point the landing gear goes up on it's own. also if the landing gear is down when you switch flight modes in the air. the landing gear goes up on it's own. improvement made new gimbal camera does not shake when calibrations are done. the h520e is also holds well in hover. have not tested rtl landing accuracy yet. however st16s battery life gets depleted fast when recording. one flight battery at 100 percent dropped the st16s battery from 100 to 61 percent in one flight. so ratio of flight battery to st16s battery dropped from 3 to 1 st16s battery 2 to 1 st16s battery.

Thanks for this info.
Regarding ST-16E, I always recommend to have a powerbank with you that has an output of minimum 2.1 Ah.
With a 20'000mAh powerbank you can easily fly 6 batteries empty, even if you still plan autonomous flights on the ST-16E.
It is important to use a thicker USB cable for charging.

Best regards from Switzerland,
Enrico

these were screen shots taken from the controller. I did not take any regular photos on this run. Due to rain on 12-12-2-20 I will not be doing another test run where I will be focusing on camera functions of the e90x. I am doing weather forecast runs on the gfs model to see what the next flyable weekend going to be.

also waiting on 2 h3 batteries to come in from vertigo drones. I would like to see what the flight time on those would be compared to the h520e batteries. This time around it may actually be more productive to purchase the higher cost battery this time. the flight time pretty much equal if not better when compared to my high end batteries from 1st gen h520 venom flight battery and h480 8050mah battery from gifi. charging and balancing will require additional hardware with some modifications for 2nd gen h520 oem batteries. Going to need to purchase more 2nd gen h520 oem cubes and mod them for third party chargers. time to charge from storage is around 74 min at 5 amps. time to get them from usage to storage takes about 30 to 40 min after they cool down. voltage in flight is 4.4v per cell.

the reason for the h3 battery is that I purchased the new dual charger 2nd gen dy5 that has the battery socket for h3 flight battery. It can be used to place the h520e battery in the correct storage voltage area. but not suitable for charging for flight with h520e battery.

when researching battery chargers I came across a new type of lithium thats be added to the mix. ULi-HV rated at 4.4 to 4.45 per cell. which is a match to what is on the label of max voltaqe to charge at.

In the middle of state of GA on vacation. Okay folks working on the second run of test with the h520e. just did simple survey and corridor run both went off no problems. now another nice surprise from yuneec orbit mode has been beefed up when compared to 1st gen h520.
Much larger diameter is supported by the h520e you can atleast do over 1700ft for sure and there is room for larger diameters. doing 1 mile circles is very doable. h520e on missions return to launch is better than first gen h520.
h520e rtk I am going to hold to a even higher standard on rtl position. I am limited by the 2 oem h520e batteries which limits the flights I can do perday. I am flying both 1st gen h520 with 24 flight batteries and 2nd gen h520e which I only have 2.
doing ten flights a day 8 on the 1st gen h520 and 2 on second gen h520e. I do not have a structure or a wall do to data pilot surveys on. 1st gen h520 e90 craped out no video on the st16s but full telemetry is being displayed. and when is comes up it's in bad shape. here are some samples from the test survey. I do have to say the h520e feels lighter than the h520.

May I ask you to take a picture in dng+jpg and upload both files? Not necessary to be in a flight, enough is to be from the open field place with a stable GPS fix.

Thank you!

I got to get a hold of vertigo drones for converting my 1st gen h520 over to second gen 520e. gimbal is a huge improvement over 1st gen h520. but with 1st gen flight battery connector vrs 2nd gen battery connector.

The photos still seem to have the comma in the wrong place in the EXIF.
The data there indicates that you were 23,967 meters above sea level with the drone. (Image YUN_0013)
The website "Mapcoordinates" shows an altitude above sea level of 117 meters when I enter the coordinates from the EXIF.

Unfortunately I have this problem since November, but there are no updates and no reaction from the German support until now.

That's a shame that it doesn't sound like they really made any improvements to the controller other than the radio. :-(

To be honest, I am extremely disappointed with the remote control software. I only knew the Mavic Mini 1 before.

For the price, I would have expected something that doesn't regularly crash, stutter and freeze or have to be restarted.
But that's probably also because only 1 GB of RAM is installed ... in 2021 ... on an Android device ... for 500€ individually or so.

I must honestly admit, the drone itself is quite good and I am quite satisfied. But based on the remote control and the overall experience, including the drone, I will consider 2 times whether the next drone I buy will be from Yuneec.
