h plus to H520 conversion

"Can the h plus chip be used or another H520 0ne only?"
Probably. The Vertigo Drones site includes both the H Plus and H520 in the list of compatible drones.

"I was assuming that when trying to do a software update and it searches for wi fi it should show then."
There is a settings icon in the upper left corner of the first page of UpdatePilot. Select the icon, then select the "pencil" icon beside "Yuneec H520". A list of available Wi-Fi hotspots will appear. An E90 will always show there if any have ever been used on that controller. If it is not actually installed, it will be marked as "unavailable".

If the C23 does not show after pressing the "refresh":
1.) Shut down the drone and the controller
2.) Restart drone and controller
3.) Go to Pad/Settings/Wi-Fi
4.) "Forget" the C23
5.) Immediately rebind the C23
6.) Go to Pad and start UpdatePilot again
7.) Check the UpdatePilot settings to see if the C23 now shows as selectable under the "Yuneec H520" list of available hotspots.
UpdatePilot has a Wi-Fi related peculiarity related to your issue you might need to know about:

okay so having gone through this i have no c23 showing on the controller under h520 edit screen. Im also unable to access the firmware details as well on the craft as i cant select anything to communicate with. this is maybe my confusion earlier when i mentioned no wifi for the typhoon itself.
i tried the c23 not showing after refresh to no avail. but just to confirm [3.) Go to Pad/Settings/Wi-Fi]is this the android settings or the yuneec wifi settings?

Please review and respond to all of the bulleted items below. The answers may help determine whether your issue is outdated firmware or if it may be a particular malfunction often associated with C23 and E90 cameras.
  • Did the drone information show up when using the H Plus main board?
  • Did you ever perform a successful H Plus drone update using this same C23 when it was associated with the H Plus mainboard?
  • Look at the image attached below and tell us which items do not show up on your system. If it is some other item, please post a screenshot of the page with the missing information.

The camera is recognised and working in the android wifi an shows in the wifi along with my home hub. However Go to the edit h520 and it scans and finds nothing

I'm sorry to take so long, but I needed some time to check out two of my H520s; one a factory original and the other, the modified Typhoon H Plus as you referenced. Just to be clear, the IMU from the Typhoon H Plus is the same one needed for the H520 mainboard. It's an essential. Likewise, you need a compatible micro SD card on the board as well (if you don't have them already). I did the following on both H520s with the same camera and the same ST16s controller with the app for the H520. In summary:
1. In spite if my best effort, I was not able to get either version of the H520 to bind without the camera (in spite of what is reported in the app). I have never flown any of my H520s without the camera, anyway.
2. What WTFD has outlined is the process needed to make things work, provided that you have already uploaded the flight controller firmware via the camera micro SD card to the H520.
3. Turn on the ST16s, and move to the android screen with the back arrow; choose settings and go to WiFi. Start the H520 with the camera attached and once the camera has intitialiized, look for the "C23" or "E90" in the WiFil list. Select it and enter the security code, "1234567890". The camera should connect and very shortly thereafter, the drone will respond and the controller remarks that the you are in Angle mode. If you select the Vehicle data on the app screen, you will see a complete listing ot settings, etc.
4. If all that happens (as it should), go have fun with your H520. It's great for surveys, but it's also fun for photo and video work. If you are using a C23, keep in mind that it will show on the conroller as an E90 and you won't have the zoom function that he have on the H Plus,

I hope this helps; Let me know if you have any questions about this process...I'm sure that I forgot something.
Happy flying,
Stephen

So when I power up, I have no data or video the wifi link management go straight to my hub. If I then go into android and select my camera and connect I get all my info in the datapilot and camera feed. Shouldn't I be logged straight to the camera/drone by default?

Secondly to sd card was still fitted to the h520 board, Nothing altered there. But I don't get any options to select when I go into the H520 edit settings on the software updater.

You need to go into the android settings screen, then WiFI and "forget" all of the connections that happen automatically. In other words, disconnect from your WiFi hub and try again. The microSD card on the mainboard is storing flight data and programs, not firmware. I also recommend that you do the updates to the controller and the H520 using the microSD card rather than the software update app.
See how that works.

"So when I power up, I have no data or video the wifi link management go straight to my hub."
Having your hub visible to the ST16S is good maybe if you want to set the controller time or do an update via UpdatePilot or something, but that's about it. Normally there is no benefit at all.
Go to PAD/Settings/WiFi. Select your "hub" and click on "Forget". Repeat for any other Wi-Fi source that is not the C23. Then restart at least two times to see if the controller goes to the proper screens/info on start-up.

"But I don't get any options to select when I go into the H520 edit settings on the software updater."
You need to upload a screenshot of the page you mean. I assumed you meant the H520 edit page on UpdatePilot, but the image you posted above shows the page I assumed with the C23 clearly listed, and even shows the ST16S as connected to another Wi-Fi hotspot (which I assume is your hub?).
Never mind. I misunderstood which page you meant.

For what it is worth, I just updated the H520 Autopilot on mine from version 1.6.18 to version 1.7.119 using the SD card method with a C23 camera. The update worked fine but does not appear to have changed anything related to your concerns. (And it picked up a nuisance alarm about "GPS speed accuracy to low". I'll have to go back and read some of the old posts that talked about that. :()

Tom,
I am running 1.6.18 for a while now. With the problems we had several years back, I'm reluctant to update anything while things are working OK, Stephen
