I don't own one so I can't address that, but I can tell you that even if you can record audio, it would not be usable. The sounds from any craft are so loud you would end up with useless audio. I have a Typhoon H, and I have never turned on the microphone for it.
Typically when you are shooting footage, you add in music/ambient sounds after. Even when a feature film is being shot, sound is recorded separately.
I have a Mantis. I have not come across anything indicating the Mantis has a microphone to record sound.
As for the assertion the H480 does not provide usable audio; it all depends on the purpose of capturing the audio. If looking for ambient sounds other than the prop noise (when in flight) - the prop noise will likely overpower any other sounds. It will capture some, but the prop noise is very prominent. It does pick up conversations when on the ground, motors stopped.
As for me, I enjoy the prop noise when reviewing raw video. Silence is too quiet. I can always turn down the sound if I want or need to. Makes reviewing more enjoyable, hearing the performance of the craft as it maneuvers and battles any wind.
I really miss the sounds, more than I expected to, when reviewing either Mantis or H520 video.
