Video is great but get a message “can not take picture “when taking a single shot.

Are you switching to picture mode?

You can't be in Video mode and try to take a snap shot.
It's one mode or the other.
Stop your video and then take your snap shot.

You are exactly dead on. I have forgot that. That message should say” Turn off the video dumbo” for forgetful old men.
