    Importers info on the "H"

Never heard of the X-Star. Just checked it out online. Looks like an orange DJI. what makes it better or worse than a DJI or Yuneec? any special features? tks!

    Drones vs. Airplanes

So we just learned that the Drone that the 747 in London supposedly crashed into was actually just a plastic bag floating lazily around Heathrow (or was it Gatwick?) First story was all over the news, of course. The follow up was a lot smaller. In related news, I was out droning last weekend...

    Newbie Crash

Just looked at Carolina Dronz and they have a basic replacement copter with no battery and no gimbal for $400, so I guess it was worth the hassle to buy another package and sell off the extra parts. If I can keep my current bird flying OK for the next 6 months I may sell it all off and get the...

    Newbie Crash

I checked Amain Hobby but they only sell a replacement airframe. At the moment I don't have the time or skill to rebuild the drone from scratch. So I bought another package on Amazon and sold off the batteries, steadygrip and controller on ebay and am now out only about $250 and I now have 2...

    National Park current flight restrictions?

Thanks for the input. I am planning on being on Cape Cod this summer and the Cape Cod National Seashore (national park) has some beautiful unpopulated scenery. I, too, am respectful of people's privacy and wildlife, etc, and don't want to give droning a bad name. However, I know one guy who...

    compass calibration

I was going to start a new thread but found this discussion first. Tried the Yuneec website and literature first but not much info on this subject. I basically have the same set of questions: 1. If the copter is flying with GPS why does it even need a compass calibration? 2. Does it need...

So you sent it in to Yuneec for repairs?

    National Park current flight restrictions?

Just learned that all the National Parks banned drones and then discovered the ban actually started in 2014 with a blanket ban on all parks. But someone said the rule is you can't 'operate' in a National park, i.e. takeoff and land etc. but you can 'fly over a NatPark at higher altitude"...

    Lost Drone

I think an excellent feature for future copters would be some kind of homing signal that you could use a smart-phone app to track your copter if it flies off into the great beyond.

Anyone fly without the landing skids / landing gear?

Cool idea. Can you post a vid of this in action? Those bloody finger pix (real or not) are a good reminder about the danger. At first I thought, how much damage can a little plastic prop do, but obviously, a lot. And a hand is bad enough, but face, eyes, other body parts could be even worse...

    Newbie Crash

Thanks for the reply! Didn't even know you could do that but that sounds really helpful. I think that one of those mystery cables that came with the package is what I need to do this. :-)

    Newbie Crash

So I got a new Q500+ and, of course, crashed it on the 3rd time out. Bad crash into a tree (and then the ground). Busted all 4 rotors and 1 landing strut and cracked the main undercarriage. When you start up the bird now it plays a little tune and flashes red-red-red. Yuneec says it sounds...

Lady comes up to me while I'm flying my drone...

Very nice. This is what gives drone pilots a good name. Gotta fight the folks who are doing dumb stuff that gives flyers a bad name and increases the restrictions on us.
