How do you pronounce 'Yaw'?

Source is immaterial, that’s the way it is. You might try looking for someone before the Wright brothers if a source is important. Perhaps Montgolfier with his balloon creations.

Use the Y sound from yellow, then end it with awe (I am in awe of the beauty of nature).

The terms pitch, roll, and yaw come from nautical ships. Pitch is bow up and down (pitched about by the waves), roll is rocking side to side, and yaw is the result of positioning the rudder causing the ship to turn. All of this carried over into aviation as airships mimic controlling a nautical ship.

This would not be a problem if you were south of the Mason-Dixon Line. Just like “Y’all” without the Ls

If ships were horses,
Gee and haw.
That is how we’d
Make them yaw.

Y’all;)
