    Hello from Massachusetts

Welcome to the drone world. Your comment the “she’s all registered” caught my attention. Did you register the drone in your name or business after you purchased it from your friend or had your friend registered it when he owned it and that is the registration number you are using? It needs to be...

Forward flight abruptly stops, for a second or 2

My friend will be back in a couple of weeks. I’ll let him get unpacked and then we shall do do testing. Stand by.

Where to get Typhoon H repaired in Western US?

I would respectfully disagree. Vertigo Drones, as far as I am concerned, took me for a ride. Even though they are in New York, I would still pedal a bike to John in California rather than entrust my UAV to Vertigo Drones. And I live in Vermont.

    Flyaway

A comment from the peanut gallery to jamesj - Go in to your controller and make sure you have the correct date and time. My Typhoon H controller will frequently default back to some earlier date and time. Files will then be marked with the incorrect date and time.

Good idea, but it will have to wait as he winters in Florida. Doesn’t come back until early to mid May. We shall do some testing then. Stand by. Will report our findings when we get them.

Forward flight abruptly stops, for a second or 2

So after speaking to my friend who also flies a H520 and is also a helicopter pilot I now believe PPldroneuser is likely correct in his conclusion that speed is the stutter stop culprit. My idea that the sensors can't see the props is correct, the spatial configuration between the props and the...

I don’t think speed should make a difference. There is nothing flexible in the system that would allow one component or another to change is spatial relationship with another part of the system when forces are applied to the UAV. Thus, if you were to suddenly speed up and the 520 momentarily...

There weather was all pretty much the same relative to temp, humidity, cloud cover.

Well, so much for my antenna theory. I put the 2 wand antennae and the square antenna back on and flew about 50 minutes at the same location today and not a single stutter stop. I think I’ll put the 4 Hawk antenna back on and wait to see if the issue arises again.

Forward flight abruptly stops, for a second or 2

Update I flew again today at the same location before I saw the recent posts. I had swapped the antennae out and put the 4 Hawks back on. I flew a total of 45 minutes doing al the same flight maneuvers I had been doing previously. How many times what I have fondly named the "stutter stop"...

Thanks for checking DoomMeister. I failed to mention earlier another event. For about a 30 second span with the 520 10' in the air and about 10-15 feet in front of me it would not respond to a roll input in either direction. Another person was flying it at the time as I was trying to get some...

Gentlemen, Thanks for your thoughts. To answer your questions - Rayray - obstacle avoidance was OFF. Sun rays a possible cause. I wish! This is Vermont. As usual this time of year - overcast. DoomMeister - OBS disabled. I do have real sense. Turtle mode not engage for entire flight. Actually...

Forward flight abruptly stops, for a second or 2

Among the seemingly never ending issues I have with my 520 I have found a new one. In the past few flights the 520 has developed a bad habit of flying forward and then the front of the 520 abruptly bucks up, sometimes once, sometimes a couple of times, before resuming "normal" flight. If you...

Emergency Landing - Comments and Questions

If you are ever in that “situation” I would suggest you not attempt to reach in and try to depress the power button. It is much safer to reach up from the bottom and pop the battery out.

Emergency Landing - Comments and Questions

I am anxiously awaiting the video of your one skid landing because I am too big of a chicken to try it! I think they call it recognizing your limitations!!
