I reinstalled the firmware and the initialization succeeded and the GUI's diagnostics showed no problems. Then I took it out today and had a normal first flight. But when I attempted my second flight, the initialization failed again.
I've tried. Engine 1 takes immediately. But Engine 2 does not and the GUI shows an error for that engine and Engines 3 and 4 and won't allow me to assign those.
I took the Q500 4K out last night for the first time in a month, with newly charged batteries. Turned on the controller and waited for it to acquire satellites. But when I turned on the Typhoon, the Typhoon repeated a series of beeps indicating an error with initialization. I switched batteries...
Flat-out incorrect. The restrictions apply only to Part 107 flights. From the facility map: "UAS operators requesting airspace authorization in accordance with 14 CFR 107.41 MUST apply at FAA.GOV/UAS." The FAA reauthorization legislation in 2012 specifically prohibited the FAA from enacting new...
The maximum authorized altitude figures are for pilots flying under Part 107. They do not apply to recreational pilots. So if a grid square says the maximum altitude is 150 feet, if you are flying under Part 107, you need to get a waiver to fly higher than that. If you're flying recreationally...
I don't know. If the battery drained completely, it's probably dead for good. I was getting an error message with the Yuneec charger after it made a brief attempt to charge each battery. The Venom charger really is a good investment regardless because it will also discharge batteries for...
I went ahead and bought the Venom Pro Duo charger. My batteries are fine now. The charger does a much better job of balancing the cells than Yuneec's charger. Plus, it charges in less than half the time -- and two batteries simultaneously.
It is my understand that the pilot must always have line-of-sight, regardless of whether he uses a spotter. The spotter's role isn't just to keep an eye on the aircraft but to keep an eye out for other aircraft intrusions.
Any luck yet?
I flew my Q500 on Friday. It was 34 degrees out with a 3mph breeze. I brought the drone back as soon as the batteries' voltage dipped to the first warning. However, the Yuneec charger is indicating an error with two of the batteries. Each time I plug one of those two in, the...
I created a form I fill out in the field. I record the battery number, the beginning voltage for each cell, the length of time the motors were on, and the voltage of each cell after landing. I also record the date, temperature, and wind speed.
