Problems often occur when an image is too large as this and other sites have a size limit. Check the properties of your image to determine how large it is. If it’s larger than what the site allows, crop it down.
Thnaks for the info. I finally found one small enough to work. I don't know what the limit is, but it must be pretty small.

Go back into the page where you uploaded an avatar. The size limits are posted. If an image is too large the failure message also notes the max size of an image.
You can use any image that suits your fancy, it just has to be sized accordingly, and most any image can be resized using various programs that you likely already have if you’re doing photography or have a computer.
