Firmware Help

Hi, I have a Typhoon H for several years and since I haven't used it for over a year, I tried to update the firmware but I couldn't. First I tried to download it from the Yuneec website and it's no longer available…. Finally I managed to download it from another website, but when I put the micro SD in the command it doesn't install…. I don't know what to do since I deleted all the data I had on the original SD.
Can someone tell me where I can download the updated firmware?
Or does anyone in the group have it so they can send it to me please

It's been six(?) years since the last update was released. It might be a good idea to see what version you have installed before attempting an update. If your system is operating normally and is doing all you need it to do, it is not recommended to update regardless of the installed version. A link to a file repository was added to your other post.

For our "vintage" drones there are two actions you should avoid if not really, really needed:
- update FW
- factory reset RC.

In case of problems do proper diagnosis first. We help as good as possible....

Hi, thank you very much, but I don't know which one I should download. I need to recover and install the full firmware since I lost it... could someone tell me which one it is and where I can download it from please?

It is hard to understand what you may need. Please start the controller and take a picture of the screen that appears.
If it is stuck in a cycle of screens, it may be easier to describe the cycle than to do a video. Uploading videos to the forum is a pretty clunky process.

Please understand that if you truly lost "the full firmware", there may not be a home remedy available. We can try to come up with a recovery plan once we understand exactly what you have.

Do you need the firmware for drone, for the controller, or for both?
This is a link to the Typhoon H system latest firmware. Please understand improper installation of the firmware can easily result in a completely bricked system.

Your controller firmware is current.
It is generally not a good idea to update firmware unless there is a real need. There are a lot of "failed update" stories here on the Forum that describe the miseries encountered when folks did updates "just because".
SD card updates can be used if needed, but there are no further Typhoon H updates expected.

Hello friend, I really need your help… I was never able to solve the firmware problem and I need you to please help me since I have tried everything that you have told me and I have not been able to get it to work. The safest and fastest way that I see is for someone who has the same model of drone as me to make a copy of the firmware on an SD card and send it to me by mail and I would install it there and the problem would be solved. Obviously I understand that all this would have a cost which I am willing to pay… you who know so many people and surely some who have my drone, could you please help me?

1. What problem do you have? Is the ST16 still working or is it bricked?
2. It is not possible to download the FW from a working ST16. We all use the FW files that are available in internet, especially the download page from yuneecskins.com
3. You must be sure that the FW file belongs to your ST16. They all look the same but are different for Typhoon H (ST16), H Plus (ST16S), H520 (ST!&S but another FW). Please specify what you have.
4. Please describe what you have done ("all" is not very helpful).

If you have a Typhoon H (H480) with ST16 then the file for FW update is "ST16_V3.1.30.yuneec". If you download this file with MS Internet Explorer it may be that the file extension will be changed (solution: Never use Internet explorer, use Firefox instead; better solution do not use Windows, use LINUX instead

).

The information and advice by @h-elsner is very good.

We can't make a copy of the existing firmware. The initial firmware is not installed in files like the updates. It was installed as an image by a bootloader. The necessary image was not made available to the public. As a result, we need to know exactly what you see so we can hope to know what needs to be done.

@Rodrone the firmware for the ST16 is stored in internal memory and not on an SD card in the card slot.

What does the ST16 do when you power it up without an SD card inserted in the slot?

Also the maximum size SD card that can be used with the ST16 is a 32GB card formatted in FAT32.

Where are you located?
