Hello All.
I am new to this group. I just purchased the H520 and I have a few questions regarding the initial setup.

1) Does a camera have to be installed in order to be able to first setup the drone? I would like to first fly the drone without a camera in place.

2) I am guessing that the drone has to be setup outdoors?

3) The controller doesnt seem to show a GPS reception when outdoor, is this because a camera was not installed as asked about in #1 above and the configuration is not complete?

The camera is not related to GPS and does not need to be installed to fly the aircraft. Since the aircraft and the controller both use GPS they both need to be in an open area to get a good location fix. On an initial flight it's best to let the 520 sit outside with the power on but the motors off, for at least 10 minutes to allow time for the GPS to finish updating.

Thanks Steve:

So basically the initial setup of the H520 has to be done oudoors?

I cant seem to get the sensors menu on the screen. Am I missing a step in the configuration? I am not using a camera yet and dont have one installed. I turn on the ground station and the the H520.

It might be best to connect the camera for the setup and then remove it before you fly.
Have you looked thru this topic?

1. You can bind the aircraft without the camera. Turn the airframe and controller on. Go to the general settings, vehicle, manual bind. Turn the airframe over and the lights should start flashing yellow. It is always better to attach a camera before flying.

2. It is better to setup outdoors. Less magnetic interference from electronics and housing materials.

3. Tap on the controller icon on top of the DataPilot home screen. There should be four lines of information. If not. Connect to the airframe as mentioned in 1.

Thanks. I did all that, and it works!. But in doing that, I still dont see the sensors menu icon on the right side of the screen. Seems like you cant connect to the GPS either without having a camera installed.
