help with ST16

my st 16 went down to 2% today so i stared charging it after 4 hours iit got 38% and when i unplugged the charger it stayed on in charging mode. my question is is something wrong with the controller or is the battery bad? help

Charge it to 100% which will take hours. Then see what happens. If it appears to stay in charging mode, turn on the controller, let it boot completely, then shut it off. Check the battery level again the next day to see if how much it dropped.
