New update available BUILD784_20181122

There gotta be a reason why they have removed 784 from the public update server and placed the 784 back in the test environment.

Since it says that 784 is fully up to date why do you think it is not the current software. If what you think is true, that they "fell back" to 777 as the most up to date why wouldn't the ST16 tell you an update was needed?

Mine also says 784 in downloaded and 777 in available with no update needed. If you back out of the app and go to your Android settings, scroll down to about tablet. It should say 784 in there.

This has happened before where the official page seemed conflicted on which version is available. Seems the 480 had this happen around the new year last year as well if I recall correctly. I believe that if you installed 777 then you should go to 784 and that’s the current version. I’m also guessing that if you put in 777 you will next find you need 784 to hit the current mark where no OTA required. Since we don’t actually download anything from the sight anymore, then you’ve got to trust what the OTA directs you to as that does now work well despite the clunky WiFi connecting via the app which never works for me.

I just went to 784, and can not binder the drone. After several reinstallations of previous versions (4 times), I made a complete reset factory and left with a 757 and it has reworked. Then with a 777 (ok) and finally the 784.
No flight yet, but at least the radio and the drone are talking to each other.
It is exhausting not to trust with the updates, it is the 2nd time since the beginning of the updates where it is necessary to start all over again.

Which is why I will only update via the Sd card in the bottom of the C23, never via OTA

I just checked what’s there via my ST16s. I know to connect to my home network first via Android then go into the app for the update. What I think I see is a “fixed” version of 777 that has the 784 patches so those who were behind only have one update? Since I’m current I can’t check it by going backwards.

If I had to educate a guess, if they bundled 777 with 784 and gave it a new number then it’d be super confusing for those of us who already did both. By calling it 777, they will hope to encourage the other 757 holdouts to upgrade.

The problem with these updates is we don’t really know what’s being addressed so you’ve got to have some faith in the manufacturers. Good explanations get sideways often in translations. The Plus OTA is actually good if you take your time and use a good quality secure decent speed internet connection so I encourage all pilots to be current as there is a reason for these updates.

For what it’s worth, I got a Zino as a starter drone to train friends with and their updating is worse then the Chroma. My experience paid off as my first attempts shut off the WiFi and I had to discover the missing step myself. That forum currently makes ours look calm and reasonable. The difference is it’s hosted by Hubsan so there are many “demands” being made by pilots with an entry level camera platform. It’s very hard to find good info there and this forums autonomy is a good thing as we learn on our own and have no expectations about Yuneec listening.

Performed the upgrade with my usual procedure: downgrading everything to build 652 and then going straight to 784. On updating the gimbal code to 784, the gimbal motors did some three tone noise that was not there on 777 (maybe they changed something).
No compass calibration done or any other calibration. Position hold is excellent, my H+ never drifted when flying on my usual test places (my home is pretty congested with WiFi), no lag or other disturbances noted.

Results are excellent: image looks rock solid on video, photos are crisp and colourful.

Great example of the different modes, thanks for sharing. Were those taken as stills or screenshots from a video? Also which mode is considered raw now? How do you downgrade back to v652, mine can't find v784 from v777? Called Yuneec about another issue today, he advised me i wasn't on the latest update and tried walking me through but i just ended up with a that's weird it doesn't find it and not much clarity as to what the difference was between manual mode vs turning off aircraft gps switch....suppose to get a follow up call today. Any insight will be helpful, for almost being the same H i know and love i feel so intimidated of the H+. In time i guess.....TIA for answers to all my questions!

I believe in Manual Mode the GPS is still on BUT; not being used for flight control so it still records the home location as well as location throughout the entire flight and RTH can be activated. When you turn the GPS off, it is off and you're on your own, there will be no recorded home to fly to so RTH will be inoperable for the duration of that flight.

Correct and well said..

I am on 777, when I check for updates nothing shows up in the available update list. Should I be concerned?

I updated ine OTA to Build 784 without any issues or need to rebind. So it does not appear to be a widespread thing.

So no call from MITCH @ yuneec today....but just wanted to elaborate on why my call in. So after purchasing the H+ i was very excited to get it up and pick up on it's differences, more so how much better it would be! Now, i'm use to lifting off from my backyard w/ the Original H so taking off w/ the + should be a walk in the park right? I will say when first arming the motors, my cousin and i glanced over at each other with this look of acknowledgement at how powerful but quieter the motors sounded, he is also an H owner. Well i was wrong twice. One for thinking everything would go right, Two for not making my first flight in an open area. After a 10ft take off she starts moving forward at enough of a pace that it surpassed the power needed to bring her back with the rates on turtle. Rates play a bigger part in this reincarnation, taking off, landing and apparently regaining control of a rogue drone. i"m just Grateful my cousin was there to help. 1st call into yuneec: Check this, check that, what version, ok reset remote. Well flight app is gone. Response: Ok were gonna have to have controller sent in to install apk, really? Shouldn't it be embedded with the OS?. Can't you send it by email? Outcome: returned as defective and exchanged. Take two, perform compass calibration, open park, 10ft take off to the same result except this time as it wandered i notice the drone was not following commands from the ST16s for AUTO TAKE OFF, SPORT, SMART, RTH, AUTO LAND and the RealSence was just acting crazy. Sticks operated normally. This is when i also learned about the rate slider having to be above half to bring it back. 2nd call into yuneec: i'm sorry, check this, check that and we need to get you on the latest firmware first but i need to have a specialist call you back in an 1hr. In that hour i looked through the setting of the drone tab and notice manual mode slider was green. Upon the call back rep agrees this was the issue, how it was weird that i wasn't able to see the 784 update and something on the difference btw manual and gps off but i gotta go its's been 15min! FML, here i am trying to be loyal and UGH!! $2000, 2 drones with same issue, Owner of a breeze, a H, make an exception! Top that off with no call back, needless to say i was frustrated. Anyhow Manual mode was the problem the whole time. Apparently some of these remotes are coming this way out the box or someone at BestBuy is having fun.....so just be careful and sorry for the long story i just don't want anyone losing that kinda money right out the box. In conclusion all is well, She's so precise and stable, you can go as fast or as slow as you want and i can say that glance of acknowledgement is well confirmed. I'll shut up now, peace

These stills were taken directly with the camera, not extracted from video.
In order to downgrade to earlier versions, you need the original upgrade files; after each upgrade, the upgrade packages can be found on the root folder of ST16S, inside the YuneecOTA folder.

To downgrade, follow the guide that @Peggy wrote but you need to perform downgrade on all subsystems (autopilot, camera, gimbal and TX). After downgrading, you just use the built-in OTA updater to upgrade the system to the latest released version.
Here is build 652, follow the guide above to downgrade.

Just curious. Did you calibrate the accelerometer and gyro on either one prior to your first flights?

Hey Phaedrus, i did compass prior to first flight of 1st drone, which btw is all is yuneec rep said was needed. After "The Incident" i got on here and found info on how to get into secret menu. I then performed gyro on a level surface and then accelerometer against a square wall in all the different angles. Finished off with compass at a wide open park but to no avail. 2nd drone i did all that prior to first fly but same thing happened.

Interesting. You are one unlucky guy to have different aircraft go wonky on you.

Hi peggy, how do you update via sd card & not ota , i can find downloadable updates for the H but not the H Plus on yuneec website
