Rapid Change in Ground Distance

What would be the effect on the Q500 with a rapid change in ground
distance? Example: Liftoff to 20' than fly over cliff edge with distance to
canyon bottom 1200' below. I performed this maneuver in Utah and the
bird became unstable as it flew past the edge of the cliff. Not sure what caused the erratic/wobble flight. Possible updrafts or rapid distance to
surface change?
Many thanks for any input.

If you were at 20' when going off the edge it still thinks its at 20'. It does not know its at 1220 ft.

Totally agree with Subtle Shots. I was flying my typhoon 4k just 6 or 8 feet above ground level and it started to get windy. the speed of the wind was no more of 10-12 mph but I noticed that some wind gust were stronger on ground level than above. The bird was flying erratically changing altitude on its own.
