I don't think you are stepping on anyone's toes and if they get upset "Then so be it", it's not rocket silence. I little bit of trial and error and your done.I mechanical engineer and I'm on solidworks daily. The way I see it, the people that a selling them are providing a service to those that don't have access to a printer or have no idea how to use one or simply don't have he desire or time to. I don't have a printer, could of sent the drawing to the machine shop an have them made up, they owe me favors for mistakes that they made. But I figured "hey" a member on the forum has them in a kit and the price is not bad, so I'm compensating them for their time and effort. Oh and you were kinda enough to share what you came up with so its a win win.
