The elusive calibration software

Okay. I was pretty sure it was to ground static away. Thanks

BTW Did you see my other post? My friend says the CGO3+ is MAVlink v2. I am going to play around some with it and see what happens.
I think the cgo uses mavlink 1 crc, but closer to mavlink 2 message format. See this thread:

I was able to use mavlink like messages to control some aspects of the gimbal.

Yes, Mavlink does work with the CGO3+. I can verify this.

During the last couple of weeks, I have received some information I wanted to share. Take a look at the last part of the repair manual.

I have been very sick for the past couple of weeks. I had to spend some time in the hospital but I am recovering and trying to get back to my projects. This information came from a former Yuneec employee who says he thinks he has the YGroundControl software. He did agree that the software doesn't always work correctly with all the cameras/gimbals but we will get lucky from time to time. At this point, I only want the software so I can see if it can be repaired to work properly. I have one former Yuneec software engineer who says he will help us out with it.

If you obtain this software, share it, please. I'll try another way to reverse the engineering in it.

Sorry to hear you were sick. Hope you have a speedy recovery. The wife and I have both been hit with some respiratory virus (non COVID-19) for the past 3 weeks. I’m mostly over it except for some lingering sinus congestion. My wife still gets the coughing fits associated with it.

So the calibrations done by the Spyder wouldn't actually be accurate for 3D and video work? I'm not sure I'm following.

When you say it "ages and gets worse", are you referring mainly to a lack of future software support, or has it been shown to actually 'physically' deteriorate in such a way? I know the older models had organic filters but I thought the X did away with this?

To close this with success - the CGO3PUARTtool can calibrate the CGO3+ gimbal as far if it is possible. It depends on HW status and FW too. The calibration itself will be done by the gimbal FW itself. The tool does only bring the gimbal in calibration mode and starts the calibration with a simple command.
It's available for Windows and LINUX (64bit versions).

Because no place to test it, will this tool cure "not straight forward lokking" of the camera?

So, now I can share a trick to do the same without calibration. If something went wrong, calibration will restore the gimbal.
When the camera and gimbal are powered and stabilized and the point of view isn't straight forward or where you want to be, to obtain a new position is necessary to rotate the gimbal and the yaw magnet SIMULTANEOUSLY to the desired point. Camera is POWERED all the time.

New versions are out for the 3 calibration tools:
- E90/C23, CGO-ET (H520) and probably all other newer Yuneec cameras
- CGO3+ and CGO-ET (H480)
- CGO3 and GB203

All available on my homepage / download area:

Have also a look on the knowledge area / manuals:

You have really been working on this!! I want to thank you for your dedication and hard work. I also want to apologize for my lack of help. Since the hurricane came through my area, I have not had much time to spend working with my hobbies. I did find something interesting this morning, while searching for some other information.
It seems the US federal government slapped Yuneec's parent company Youli Technology Co Ltd with some major sanctions back in 2022 and then again in 2023. I am not sure why. Does anyone have any info on this?

Interesting.
I was not aware Yuneec was ever owned by any group other than ATL Global Holding AG of Switzerland.
Where did you see a connection with Youli Technology?
I found it on a Chinese site that listed some of their businesses and information about them. I will see if I can find the link in my history and share it with you.
Could it be, they own a percentage of the shares? I am not sure.
