Hi guys , I bought a T-240 battery balance charger and just after some settings to charge the batteries please to make sure I’m doing it right IMG_0085.jpegIMG_0084.jpeg

Batteries for the Yuneec drones should never be charged at any rate higher than 1C (for the 5400mAh that would be 5.4A and the 6300mAh at 6.3A). That would be for fast charging.

Best practice is to do a full balance charge at 0.5C (so 2.7A or 3.2A for the batteries in your photos). This keeps the charging heat to a minimum and allows better balancing. Only charge your batteries when you are going to fly within the next 24 hours. When flying try to be back on the ground before the low battery warning (I go for about 14.6V which allows battery to rebound near 15.2V after it cools). This practice puts less stress on the battery and makes storage charging quicker by being close to the 3.8V/cell (15.2V for the 4S pack).

When not using the batteries keep them at storage charge and check them about once a month for charge level and cell balance.

Thankyou for that info, I’ve been charging at 4.2amps for both and setting the charge limit to the rating of the battery 5400 for one and 6300 for the other.
Do you have any recommendations on replacement batteries as I find the aftermarket ones I have aren’t very good and drain quicker than the original battery.

The only thing I’ve found available in the US is GiFi brand. For the most part they have been decent. Just check with your supplier to see if they have a replacement policy for one that has a bad cell imbalance. I have had one that was faulty due to a cell with a high internal resistance that would not balance charge completely. I use it for ground testing or short flights that don’t require a completely healthy battery (aka short test flights after repairs).

There are also adapters that other users have 3D printed that allow use of other 4S standard LiPo packs. Some require modifying the top shell to extend the GPS module to get it away from increased electronic interference caused by exposed wiring from the adapter.

A web search should turn up a few possibilities as well as a search here on the forum.
