I bought this barley flown typhoon H 480 for only $175. Its been packed in the original box since 2019 and has only 10 hours of fly time on it.
I have been flying drones for about 4 years now but have never had one as nice as this one.
The first thing I noticed were the two batteries that came with it were severely swollen so I immediately disposed of them and one of them actually burst into flames when I tossed it into a bucket.
Anyway, I got a new battery for the drone and the controller (ST 16) but it keeps telling me to turn on the wifi even though I have it on, so I went ahead and bought a new (ST) Base station but now it's saying it can't connect with the drone or the camera.
I just need someone who can walk me through this and help me troubleshoot anything that may be wrong

Is the new controller an ST16?
Does the flight control screen look like this:

Did you create a new "Model" on the controller to use for binding?
Did you go through the two binding processes needed to bind both the camera and the drone to the new controller?
If not, review this video as needed:

No I did not. I had no idea that I needed to do that. This is my first professional drone and I am learning as I go. Everyone on this forum has been wonderful and explaining what needs to be done and in which order. I'm going to be binding the ST16 and the drone today and going to be reading over some of the other things that have been suggested. Which updates should I install? When I go on the website it gives all kinds of updates but I don't see any for the 480 drone. I just don't want to download something that is going to damage mine or that is something that I don't need

It would be a good idea to avoid updates until you have an idea of its current performance. Yuneec update process is unreliable. It is not nearly as "routine" as other equipment (phones/computers) may have led you to believe. Yuneec updates should not be installed unless needed to fix an existing problem or provide some known available feature you need. Many systems have been bricked attempting to perform updates that were only because the owner wanted "the latest".

The latest firmware is:

"Typhoon H Current Update Firmware"
However, if the system is working normally and provides all the features you need, it is generally advisable to leave the firmware alone.

Could there be a potential for firmware mismatch with a replaced st16 . Is there anyway to know what matching software belongs to both the ground station and the hex or does it matter if say the controller was on the latest and the hex on the oldest version

Check the hardware monitor also before ur first flight. You can test the sticks and all the switches to insure all working correctly. The last 4 people I’ve sold yuneec spares to I advised this and everyone of them had sticks that needed the contacts cleaned. It’s so simple and definitely a must before any flying. You will definitely enjoy this model. Sounds like you got a great deal on it 😁
