All of us at some time have, I'm sure, misjudged the height of an object and only by luck and good airman-ship avoided a calamitous and ultimately expensive incident. I was wondering how others judged the heights of fixed objects when surveying. I use a laser range-finder with an angle gauge set at 45 degrees, so I spot the top of the object through the gauge and the height of the object is the range finder distance..
