Is there a way to program the software to allow the birds to fly higher than the Max range of 400'?

This can be changed with the so called GUI: Downloads - Typhoon Q500 4K
You need a USB to serial converter to connect to the copter itself. This should be part of your Q500 package (a white USB stick with cable to Q500 receiver plug).
