Has anyone used the E90 and E50 in mapping large flat roofs? I want accurate measurement ability. My question is could I lower the GSD by using the E50.
Thanks

Hi. I've used both for mapping. The DataPilot planning screen will tell you the GSD for each camera for an area to be mapped. The E50 will take many more photos at the same altitude, of fly higher for a less images but also less GSD.
The bigger issue is overlap at the roof level. If you plan to launch from the ground but the building is high, your overlaps reduce. Starting at ground level, say you plan 80% overlap, the overlap at roof level might only be 60-70%, depending on the height difference.
Also, dimensional accuracy is limited without the use of RTK or similar, but usually good enough for contractor estimating purposes.

I need accurate roof measurements but I'm really looking for accurate equipment on the roof. Good point on the roof height. The mission could start on the roof and use aero points to improve accuracy. I may need to experiment with the two cameras. How much of an issue have you experienced with the rolling shutter images. I read an article using the E90 were he used a 70 or 75 degree angle and the accuracy was much better. Would like to know if anyone else tried this. Thanks for the response
