Drone friendly areas

I've had good luck with public encounters. Typically they're enthusiastically curious and say a family member wants one. They've always been courteous. Perhaps I've been lucky.

Locally I'm flying in town or county parks that are fairly large and not overrun with people. I fly there during the week when most people are working or in school. Sometimes on the weekend I'll visit an elementary school property that has no one around. The school is surrounded by farmland and therefore offers the opportunity to improve my flying skills and video camera angles and techniques.

Last summer I had the good fortune to spend time on a 50 acre B&B in VA. It really got me started as there we very few obstacles, the land was flat and next to a mountain range. Very scenic. Its where I also learned to tell my friends to shut up and that I wasn't interested in the things they thought I should do with the drone when I was flying it. They were free to share those thoughts when I was on the ground though.
