E90 from EU to US firmware .

Am probably missing something very obvious. Perhaps one of you guys know the answer.
So I’m trying to install US firmware on an e90. The hex, camera and st16s are all currently running the latest EU versions, the were updated OTA . The only difference I can see is the firmware in the camera from EU to US . Exactly the same as the h plus.
I formatted a 16gb sd card to fat32 , installed e90 US firmware and made sure the file was on the card and its named firmware.bin . I added the sd card to the camera and booted the hex leaving the controller powered off. On the h plus this updated the camera but not this time with the e90. The camera never reboots or performs and updates . It’s almost like it doesn’t know the files are there. The card does show inserted and working when u finally power on the st16s and it allows video and pictures to be added.

O yes another thing, why does the hplus video feed auto connect but the h520 I always have to click WiFi on the top right, click to connect to the camera and then wait for it to show feed. Does anyone get an automatic video feed or is this just normal for h520

Sounds like the ST16S is defaulting to your home WiFi. Go into Pad, Settings, WiFi then forget all SSID’s except that of the camera.

I’ll test this on next power up. It is likely picking up my home WiFi and establishing a connection because the controller is powered up first . It’s only after the hex is powered on that the camera starts transmitting WiFi so it likely isn’t switching over . I’m curious is there a setting for always connect to the cameras WiFi over other signals and what will happen when i hot swap other payloads. Only one way to find out , cheers for reply

I haven’t as I’m currently at work but it’s going to be the first thing I try when I return home at midnight . I’ll report back then

Success . When u go to settings and forget home WiFi auto connect is achieved. If u switch paylodes from e90 to e50 you also get an automatic video feed connection.

So what happens if u power on the h520 first ? If u power on the h520 first then switch on the st16s unfortunately it still prefers the home WiFi, at least with my testing using our weaker EU software providing a less powerful WiFi signal from the camera. With US firmware this might be different .

When it connects to home WiFi the symbol on the top right of the screen changes to ap WiFi and we must click that symbol to access link management to get video feed from the camera(essentially breaking the original connection).The st16s can only handle one active connection and when that connection is achieved it will stick to it unless the link is broken. This is why switching paylodes works. When a camera is removed the active connection is broken and the controller will look for its next connection. When WiFi appears it will auto connect.

It looks like the best option if u fly next to ur house is to forget home WiFi in settings. If u fly at a location further away from ur house it’s not an issue and the video feed will automatically connect when it doesn’t see the home WiFi. I tested this by turning off the power to the modem (good job kids were asleep as u do not turn off home WiFi under any circumstances )

Next will be installing US firmware. The EU firmware can take 90 seconds before it’s even visible to connect .
