E90x no power

I just checked the maintenance and parts manual for H480/H+/H520. YUNH520116SVC Is the Mainboard for both H+ and H520 so conversion between them is just the F/C board. It may be the same for the H3, but it appears to have a different PN so not sure.

There seem to be differing indications out there. I am not sure what is correct. These images are what I believed to be true at some point. Even so, it doesn't preclude the possibility I got it wrong.

The best way is to open the shell and look.

This is just hardware. No clue if/how to swap firmware.

Yuneec do like to use the same parts across models , luckily 😁. I might need to get a cheap h3 on Facebook marketplace just to see what’s going on

This is an H3 Mainboard. I took the picture 5 minutes ago. I do not have an H520E in the shop. If you can upload an image of yours it would be great.

Curious. The HPlus row of connectors look the same except the battery latch detector is missing. The latch is a good thing, but not all that necessary if you make sure the battery is latched. Probably some compatibility for experimenting anyway.

See one port on the bottom for the antennas on the h3 and on the h520e it’s on the port next to it

They didn’t even bother to put the wires for the antennas into the braiding 😂
A nice aluminium housing for this bit, fan with a holes for screws but sure why not just use a bit of hot glue says yuneec , the e must stand for economy

Do u think if the are the same would it be possible say if u had a crashed h520e to switch flight controller, build in sd card perhaps, camera mount , camera and antennas into a h3 donar . I’m curious did yuneec have a few unsold h3 and added the bits with a shell made in the same injection mould just in a different colour, essentially creating the h520e black edition . There sd card and flight controller would just be loaded with the different software

I doubt it.
Swapping firmware on the controllers is not much of a problem, but swapping firmware via firmware "updates" for the drone mainboard is met with blocks similar to camera firmware. There are probably bootloaders somewhere that can do it. but I have no idea if any copies survived the service center shutdowns. The service centers may not have even had them to start with. I also have no idea if the "images" for any of the main boards still exist. Not even sure if an "image" is used. Lots of stuff I don't know about this area.

Not sure what you mean. On H3, the antennas to go SR24. On H520E I assume they go to OFDM module. Maybe not? Maybe you mean something else?
Yes this is what I meant exactly, the fact both ports are present suggests board could be the same

This image makes me think it’s possible, notice the arms have a custom bracket with antennas attached

I'm pretty sure that H Plus, H3 and possible H520E have the same mainboard layout. The battery connectors are different.
My H3 board seems to be one of the first. The Battery lock contact is soldered to the free (not attached) port on the mainboard.

Both have a debug port for the STM32. The big question is if the bootloaderf of the H Plus, H3 or H520E are different or if we can flash only different FC (Autopilot) firmware on it. The SD card is only to store missions, parameters and flightlogs. We can start with a formatted SD card.

To flash FC firmware we have some Windows tools.

With my H Plus board I have tested to format the SD card. With a formatted SD card the drone creates a new file structure and a new parameter set with default parameters. The Gyro, Acc and Compass calibration and SR24 binding is gone. It needs a full calibration from scratch on. After that it should work.

I couldn't test calibrations because I have no arms with indication LEDs attached to the bare board.

When you switch between different types drones the parameter set my be a problem if the parameters belongs to the other type of drone. Parameters should be empty from my point of view.
