Flying through fireworks...

That footage was taken with an FPV racing drone. At most it was probably 12.5cm diagonally with a weight between 40 to 80 grams. Very small, light, and highly maneuverable.

In the black and white clip you can see it following another racing drone before the fireworks start, as well as, the status display the pilot uses to monitor telemetry while flying.

So maybe not even illegal then if it's under 250 grams ?!

Still illegal, just doesn't require FAA registration.

This is the same type of drone that captured the video in the flight path of a passenger jet on approach to the airport in Las Vegas, NV earlier this year.

Most of these pilots are really good at the controls and are responsible hobbyists. Unfortunately there are the ones that break the rules and post to YouTube, Vimeo, etc. that give the rest of us the grief we are getting from the government and the general public. I wish those sites would ban such, to help reduce the incentive to capture that kind of video.
